If you ask most people what they want out of life many of them will return the phrase, "I want to be wealthy." What exactly does that mean? To each person the meaning of wealth can be different and until one has a firm grasp of their own definition of wealth the likelihood that they will attain their desired results is nothing more than a mere pipe dream.
The primary reason for this is that there is no definition to the desired result. So, how can you attain something when you don't even know what it is that you are trying to accomplish? It is no secret that the fastest way to accomplish something is to set a goal and focus on that goal. If wealth is what you want, then you must define wealth before you can strive for it.
For many people wealth is solely a representation of monetary wealth or riches. This is fine but if you ask ten different people to add a value to define the amount of money necessary to be considered wealthy, they will give you ten different answers. To the guy making $12,000 a year his definition of wealthy may mean a job that pays him $100,000 a year. Many people would scoff at that but to him; this level of income would make him wealthy. The woman who is the director at a company in Corporate America may have a definition in the millions. Still others would require tens or hundreds of millions if not billions.
Wealth doesn't need to be and probably shouldn't be limited to a fiscal definition. In fact, for some it may not have anything to do with money at all. Wealth can also be defined by a measure of Time, Freedom, Relationships, Health, etc. Ultimately, the definition of wealth should be the picture of your utopia. Figure out whatever it is that will make you happy and there it is.
Once you have your definition of wealth, write it down and go after it. It is only now that you have something real to shoot for. One very important thing to remember when you are setting this definition is that this is your definition; Not anyone else's. Figure out what it is that would make you happy, without regard to what you think others will think or say. After all, this is your life and who knows you better than you?
If it is wealth you want: Define it and go after it! Live your life with intention.
